I recently purchased one of these. I have always been curious about them due to Frisell's earlier use of them. I thought I would give one a spin. It's a super quiet compressor, but the comp side is really extreme. I usually put the sustain knob off and there is still a lot of compression.
Anyone know now how Bill used this pedal back in the day (settings)? I'm still debating whether this thing will stay, but it is cool for what it is.

Hi Melodic Dreamer
that's cool, I've thought about getting one of those - just to emulate Bill. You can hear on those early records, he's using a LOT of compression - it almost chokes the note and then creates loads of sustain. I have a Zoom G5 multi FX that has several compressors in it, but I don't know which one would be closest to the TC. I wonder if he ran it with the Sustain knob off, like you describe. I had a Boss CS-3 that I found got me close to the BF squish, but I got rid of it because I felt it wasn't transparent enough. And now I use a cheap multi FX - ha!

Hi Jonny, I love that older tone. I'm not trying to recreate Bill's sound, but his playing has been an inspiration. Normally I use the Xotic SP comp on my board. It's not always on, but when I do turn it on I'm usually think of Bill's older tone. Plus, it is super tiny. I bought the TC out of curiosity, plus the price was really good. I might keep it for recording purposes.

That Xotic looks good. What's your rig then?
