Hi Melodic Dreamer - I'm sorry nobody is yet to respond...my listening changes all the time, as I'm sure yours does. Most recently, I've been listening to Damon Albarn's "Everyday Robots" on repeat for about a month. Before that, a cocktail of:
Bill Frisell Jim Campilongo Polar Bear Adrian Belew Michael Landau Talking Heads Brian Eno David Bowie Tom Waits Marc Ribot Battles Bang On A Can

No big deal. I'm always posting in hopes of getting something going one day. It would be nice to create some kind of community on here, but I don't think its working. lol Cool list though! A few years ago, Campilongo, Ribot and Waits were on a heavy rotation for me as well.

How would you describe your sound?

Yessir. Bill's Americana side and his work with Zorn are my favorite stuff. But I still like almost everything he records. His phrasing, chord choices and note choices are always interesting and, well,....just insanely good.
My sound? Sometimes I think I have that figured out and then, it changes. Some of my all-time favorite sounds are:
Clean Telecaster or es335 neck pickup thru a Blackface Reverb. Dirty Telecaster or es335 bridge thru a Tweed.
A little reverb and a little delay. Add a little tremolo or vibrato for the right swampy song.
What is your sound?

I love an Archtop straight into an amp with little to no reverb. I also love a Tele, 335 or Strat with little breakup, and sometimes a washed out fuzz tone. I have a few tones from performances from various artist that stand out to me. I have realized I have been influenced by these sounds, chased these sounds and then changed them to work with one another as well as my touch and my gear. For example: I love Bill's older tones. These performances have various depths to their reverb and or compression that inspired something within my sound. Although the songs and singing are not necessarily my favorite, the way Landau plays and sounds in these clips are favorites of mine for a dirty tone. This performance will always be one of my favorite lead tones ever. There are also more modern jazz sounds that have the traditional quality to the base tone, but incorporate reverb and delay a little different than Frisell, Metheny and Scofield did with their modern style. Last, but not least a couple of clips that also helped shape my tone. The Ad999 slap-back setting has became a favorite of mine. You can see that these tones are different from one another. I have taken qualities from each and created my personal style, hence my decent sized pedalboard.

^All outstanding musicians and awesome tone clips. We share similar taste in tone. Have you ever seen Campilongo live? He makes that PR sound huge.
