New music recorded over the Christmas/New Year holiday. Not necessarily Bill-ish in vibe. Mostly crunch tones and RnR. Maybe a little Americana. Just having fun. I did use my Rick Kelly guitars...which Bill has been known to also play. It was after I first heard Bill's music that I decided to go by Rick's shop. The first three are an RK tele with a huge non-truss rod neck and pine body. The last song is an maple neck/pine body loptail RK with a B Bender and Bigsby installed. The bass is an old Harmony H22. soundcloud.com/skintknuckle/sets/stereogram

Good tones! What's your recording setup? Thanks MD! My setup is essentially Apple laptop, Rosetta 800 AD/DA, Thunderbolt, Logic Pro X, 500 series preamps and compressors, Focal monitors. These recordings were direct into the preamps, a little compression and using the amp/pedal models in Logic. The MelloTron sounds are an iPad app.

I'm impressed with the Logic amp sounds - can you elaborate on what models/setting you used?
I recently bought Logic Pro X (having used Logic 8 for years as a go-to DAW when things got too much for Pro Tools on my laptop).
I've been really disappointed with the amp sims and the pedalboard plugin (especially the distortions - yuck) and wish I'd saved the money for something else...I've also noticed it takes a while to load plugins, whereas good old Logic Pro 8 was super fast and super reliable.
I made the mistake of trying BIAS AMP plugin and not buying it when it was on Xmas discount...it's the best amp sim I've ever tried!

The first three songs use the Big Brute Blues model which is a tweed model. The last one with the B Bender is Big Tube. Both are tweaked a little. I've been pleased with Logic Pro X...but I upgraded my computer at the same time because my old computer was just so slow and aggravating. The new drummer feature is really handy in the new Logic. I'll have to check out the BIAS AMP plug in...sounds interesting.

I've since had a fiddle with Logic Pro X, and I've found some good sounds. I hate the overdrives in Pedalboard, but really like the Fuzz Machine and The Grit. I'd like the real pedal that the Fuzz Machine is modelled on - I wonder what it is? It sounds a bit like the Burns Buzz Fuzz that King Crimson use. I had some time to fiddle last night and managed to cop Hendrix's All Along The Watchtower tone in two versions - the Plexi sim with a compressor in front, followed by stereo delay and reverb and finally Logic compressor on vintage opto mode. The other version is the same with essentially a clean setting on the Plexi but with the fuzz face on 50% gain in front of it. Both very Hendrixy. I think he used the middle start pickup on the intro solo and then switched to the bridge further in the song.
Anyway I've gone off on one there - not really necessary. I think your work just goes to show that you can get great sounds out of all these plugins - you just have to tweak them right!
