Slowly working my way thru Mel Bay's Jazz Standards Chord Solos. Two songs so far: My Funny Valentine and Body & Soul. A transcription of Bill's version of Surfer Girl. Learnng and re-learning a few classic country and rock tunes for an upcoming gig with friends. So much to do, so little time. I should put down the iPad!

That's a big question Melodic Dreamer!
I'm taking a DipABRSM in July so I've currently got a set list of classical pieces on the go. These include two Walton Bagatelles, which you guys might enjoy. They are classical but with jazz and Cuban elements.
I'm also working on some original pieces for my new band - we have a rehearsal next week and they play from sheet music so I've got to get the parts arranged properly. I'm good at starting things but developing them and finishing them is another matter.
I'm always playing through the Bill Frisell Anthology and trying to realise the pieces on solo guitar as fully as possible - I plan to produce some guitar arrangements of some of my favourites.
I've also just finished the first draft of a soundtrack to a short animated film that I'm writing with a percussionist friend. We're currently waiting on the animator to give us guidance on where to go next with it. It's mainly marimba and percussion and it's based on loops of different lengths going against each other.

Looking more in depth at upper structured triads. Also getting a better handle on playing through changes in a creative way, while relying on my ears more than my knowledge. I'm also learning some standards, or should I say relearning the ones I have forgotten. lol
I'm getting ready for a couple duet gigs. One is with another more traditional jazz guitarist, think (Kenny Burrel, Wes) while the other duet is with a sax player. He plays more traditional jazz with the influence of smooth jazz too. Not my favorite stuff, but it is what it is. Speaking of sax, I bought one last December. Between guitar, grad-school, two internships, marriage and three kids I'm trying to learn how to blow as well.
It's such a slow process. lol
I'm also a huge fan of guitarist Like Lage Lund, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Peter Bernstein and many other contemporary guys. I got Lage's instructional dvd a while back. I'm still working through it as well.

Margaret Explosion will be starting back up at the Little Theater Cafe next Wednesday (Sept 2). It'll be the start of our 13th season (year)!
I've got my new Yanuziello guitar and am loving it. Pics are over on the Gear Page on page 20 of the Yanziello photo gallery. Awesome guitar!
I have a rock gig coming up this Monday with Jerry Falzone and Liar's Moon. Other than that, just been busy with work stuff!
