Thanks, Rambler! The Flys are wonderful guitars. And yes, you are correct, you hear a Piezo mixed with the humbuckings. They are a Fender scale, but have a conical radius that starts at 10" at the nut and ends at 16" at the 12th fret. They have, in my opinion, the best vibrato ever made. I prefer the first generation pickups, which have a more hi-fi sound with Alnico magnets rather than the ceramic magnets in the second generation guitars. I have two Flys - neither of which are in the videos from WXXI. I now have a now have Fly Classic Standard which is a passive guitar without the Piezo, and I have the Parker Fly Artist that Ken built for Bill Frisell, which I got from Bill (through John Stewart) in 2002 or so. It's a hardtail, but has the electronics. It's a beautiful bearclaw spruce.
All that said, I find myself using the Yanuziello almost exclusively these days (well, since Feb 2012). I am hooked!
I will post some links to Margaret Explosion stuff when I get to a full computer (instead of the iPad I am on now). There are also nearly 200 MP3s on our site, and I will post links to that area as well.
